FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions

What can be analyzed with MoleExpert macro?

MoleExpert macro is used to compare multiple images to spot and compare nevi. The software is able to detect new or changed nevi on later pictures and it will flag them so that doctors are then able to compare them.

What are the hardware requirements?

  • Standard Windows® PC (Windows 98SE or higher)
  • 800x600 pixels screen resolution
  • Intel® Pentium II processor with 266 MHz or faster
  • 64 MB RAM or more

Can I use my images for the analysis?

It is very important that the lesions are easily visible. If they're hard to see, then the software won't be able to reliably detect them. It's also very important to have standard lighting conditions, and you should be using roughly the same angle for all the images.

If you are unsure of whether your images are suitable for the analysis, then just send us two or three typical images by e-mail and we'll check them for you, free of charge.

Which image formats are supported?

The software currently supports

  • BMP (Windows/OS2 Bitmap)
  • JPG (JPEG)
  • PNG (Portable Network Graphic)
  • TIF (Tagged Image File Format)

Modules to read DICOM are available on request.

I'm not a doctor, can I still order MoleExpert?

We're sorry, but the software is targeted towards doctors, not patients. The analysis is only aimed at aiding in diagnosing skin problems, so the results need to be analysed by a dermatologist.

Is MoleExpert micro available in other languages?

The software is available in English and German. Adaptation to other languages is very simple and can be carried out by translating one text file into the required language.
